I had way too much fun today with my gr. 7/8's as they conducted their science experiment. In previous classes, we had practiced how to use the triple-beam scales and how to measure mass. Today each group had to complete an experiment on their own. They had to debate, discuss, and eventually agree on many points, ranging from what size beaker to use, to the most efficient procedure. There was so much thinking going on in our room! Before they started, I taught them how to use the netbook webcam to take pics of their procedure, which they could use in their experiment report instead of drawing diagrams. Here, I'm caught in the act, as I snap a pic of Trevor taking a shot of Dylan as he measures an ingredient.
